We are seeking a full-time Lift Supervisor for Song and Labrador Mountain. This position has the ability to be full-time, year round. Candidates must be energetic, reliable, demonstrate leadership, communication, and organizational skills. A Lift Supervisor at a ski area plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the ski lifts. This position involves a combination of managerial and technical responsibilities to provide an enjoyable and secure experience for skiers and snowboarders.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Lift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of all ski lifts. This role involves managing a team of lift operators, ensuring the safety of guests, and maintaining equipment in optimal working condition.Key Responsibilities:
Safety Compliance: Ensure all lift operations comply with industry safety standards and guidelines. Conduct regular safety meetings and training for lift operators. Investigate and report any accidents or safety incidents to the Mountain Operations Manager.
Personnel Management: Recruit, hire, and train lift operators. Schedule and supervise the day-to-day activities of the lift operations team. Provide guidance and feedback to staff for performance improvement.
Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the regular maintenance and inspection of ski lifts. Coordinate with the maintenance department to address any operational issues promptly. Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and inspections.
Guest Services: Ensure that guests are efficiently and safely loaded and unloaded from ski lifts. Address guest concerns or inquiries in a professional and courteous manner. Monitor lift lines and implement crowd control measures during peak times.
Emergency Response: Develop and execute emergency response plans in case of lift malfunctions or other safety incidents. Coordinate with ski patrol and other departments in the event of an emergency.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily lift operation statistics, incidents, and maintenance activities. Prepare reports and provide data as requested by management.
Environmental Awareness: Promote and enforce environmental stewardship practices related to lift operations, including wildlife and terrain preservation.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus).
• Previous experience in ski lift operations a plus, or a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of ski area safety regulations and protocols.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and at high altitudes.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Relevant certifications, such as Lift Operations Supervisor Certification, may be required.
Physical Requirements:
• The ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
• Stamina to work outdoors in cold weather for extended periods.
• Skiing or snowboarding proficiency may be preferred but not always required.
